PA Vehicle Safety Inspection Training

This Pennsylvania state-approved course is designed to provide auto mechanics with the required certification to conduct PA Safety Inspection of vehicles. The course is comprised of classroom hours, written exams and tactile testing. All must be completed before receiving certification.

Applicants must be at least 18 years of age in order to receive an inspection license, and have a valid operator’s license for each class of vehicle they intend to inspect. Upon satisfactory completion of all components of the course, a certificate will be issued directly to the student by the PA Sate Department of Transportation.

Applicants may select from the following Categories* of Inspection Licensing:

  • Cat I – Passenger

  • Cat II – Motorcycle

  • Cat III – Heavy duty

  • Cat IV – Enhanced Vehicle Safety Inspector Exam

  • Document Reviewer Certification

*Multiple Categories may be taken simultaneously.
